Cost estimator
Pet insurance cost estimator
This tool estimates from published averages and works claim arithmetic on a bill you enter. It is not a quote, and CostByBreed is not an insurer, a broker, or an agent.

How this site is paid: this page will carry affiliate links, and if you buy through one, the insurer may pay CostByBreed a fee. None are live yet, so every button currently routes to the quote page, which says which partners are open. Read the affiliate disclosure for the full picture.
How this estimator works
It combines four things, each from a named source: the national average premium for the coverage tier you pick, the conditions your breed is documented to be prone to, with their sourced treatment ranges, your state's pet insurance rules in one line, and a claim worked in full on a bill you enter, with the deductible and reimbursement share you choose.
What it cannot do
It cannot price your pet. No insurer publishes a breed price list, and this site prints no breed premium, so the average here is a benchmark for scale, never a quote. Your actual premium comes from an insurer's quote, priced on your pet, your address, and your plan settings.
Frequently asked questions
Is this estimator a quote?
No. It works from published national averages and from a bill you enter. A quote is an insurer pricing your individual pet, and it only happens on the insurer's own site.
Why is the average the same for every breed?
Because the average is a national figure across every breed and age, published by the North American Pet Health Insurance Association. No source publishes an average premium for one breed, so this tool shows the breed's conditions the breed is prone to and their costs instead of inventing a breed price.
What deductible and reimbursement should I pick?
The example settings on this site are a $500 yearly deductible and 80 percent reimbursement. A higher deductible lowers the premium and raises what you pay on each claim. The claim section above lets you test the settings on your own bill before you decide.
